The Bolivarian nation is preparing for potential U.S. attacks through its ‘Independence 200 Plan.’
On Tuesday, Venezuela activated three Integral Defense Operational Zones (ZODI) in the eastern part of the country to protect the coasts and the Venezuelan Atlantic waters amid U.S. military threats.

The newly launched ZODIs correspond to the states of Nueva Esparta, Sucre, and Delta Amacuro. Previously, Venezuelan authorities had already implemented ZODIs in eight other states: La Guaira, Zulia, Anzoategui, Monagas, Bolivar, Carabobo, Aragua, and Falcon.
Earlier this month, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez announced that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) would ensure the normal development of daily activities across the country through 27 territorial defense tasks defined under the “Independence 200 Plan,” which was activated on Sept. 12.
Among these territory-based actions are the protection of strategic facilities such as oil and petrochemical plants, gas pipelines, fuel storage facilities, and service stations. Padrino Lopez also emphasized that Venezuela is conducting military exercises based on the possibility of U.S. military aggression.
“Without alarmism, we must bring realism to the situation,” he said, adding that U.S. aggressions could include aerial bombings, naval blockades that would suffocate trade, covert commando incursions through jungles or beaches, drone swarms, no-fly zones, assassinations of political leaders, or sabotage of the national electrical system.
During the broadcast of his weekly program “Con Maduro +” on Monday night, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro referred to the activation of the ZODIs and the U.S. threats.
“We will continue activating ZODIs in every state and perfecting the 27 tasks in the field so that Venezuela is prepared to remain at peace, exercising its sovereignty with independence, and securing its right to life and joy,” he said.
“They have deployed eight destroyer ships, 1,200 missiles, a nuclear submarine… Every day they increase their numbers. Before, they had 4,000 soldiers, and now they have 10,000. And they will keep increasing,” he added.
